Exponential Mistake
EnvironmentPersonalPoliticsAvoid office, pubs and travel to stop virus - PM
Boris Johnson: “It look as though we are now approaching the fast growth part of the upward curve” The PM has said everyone in the UK should avoid “non-essential” travel and contact with others to curb coronavirus - as the country’s death toll hit 55.
Even the PM does not understand the implications of exponential growth and gave a very misleading assessment in his first daily pandemic briefing.
The briefing was a total mess, surprise surprise.
He said the number of cases will double every five days … if only …
Exponential growth means it will multiply by ten, not just double. Other countries have seen this happen in as short as five days to a week.
1, 10, 100, 1000 vs 1, 2, 4, 8 that is a very big difference.
Needless to say, his misunderstanding and the general incoherent presentation does not bode well.
